Every Kumite match is overseen by a team of trained officials who ensure fairness, structure, and discipline throughout the competition. Here’s how the officiating system works:

I. Starting Positions
- Referee stands at the outside edge of the match area
- Judges 1 & 2 stand on the Referee’s left
- Judges 3 & 4 stand on the Referee’s right
II. Opening Ceremony
- Contestants and Referee Panel exchange formal bows
- Referee steps back, Judges turn inward, and all bow together
- Officials then take up their designated positions
III. Panel Change Procedure
- Departing officials take one step forward, turn to face incoming panel
- On the incoming Referee’s command, both panels bow to each other
- Departing panel exits in one line, facing the same direction
IV. Individual Judge Change
- Incoming Judge approaches outgoing Judge
- They bow together and swap positions
